Located on Market Street, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear. The Theatre Royal was opened in 1866. Alterations were carried out in 1894 by architect A.P. Farthing, and again in 1898 by architects J. Henderson & J. Hall. By 1898 it was screening films as part of the programme. This continued into the 1910’s and during World War I.
The Theatre Royal continued as a live theatre, with occasional film use until 1941.
The Theatre Royal was demolished in 1962.
