Comet Theater

The Comet Theater was home to movies and theatrical productions in the first third of the 20th century most notably Irving Berlin appearing in his “Yip-Yip Yaphank” in 1917.

The Comet Theater was part of the movie chain of William D. Eccleston for a number of years beginning May 1919.

The building’s remaining life was spent as retail; Wallen’s Supermarket closing in 2012. The former dressing rooms were still recognizable to the end.

The building is now (May 2014) boarded up awaiting it’s fate.
