When the Roxy was built the Capitol which had been built in the 20s was operating and just taken over by Odeon as well as a drivein located just west of Shoppers World The above Article was from a publication called “Theater Catalogue” In the 60’s and early 70’s it was used as a furniture store

Wherever did you get these pictures?

This theatre was on Nelson St. in Downtown Brampton. It was closed down even when I was a kid, shopping with my parents at the neighbouring Loblaws. At that time it looked pretty beat up with all the old neon signage smashed and rusted. Some torn and faded posters could be spotted in the boarded up marquee.

There was always talk of revitalizing the place through the 70’s. Making it into a modern cinema. But nothing ever came of it.

It’s amazing to actually see it when it was brand new and (perhaps) the only dedicated movie theatre in town at the time.
