Located in St. Annes-on-Sea to the south of Blackpool, Lancashire. The Empire de Luxe Cinema was opened in 1912 with 860-seats in stalls & circle levels. It was operated by Mr. Spring & J.S. Crowther. It had an 18 feet wide proscenium and a stage 12 feet deep. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system around 1930. The cinema also had a café for the convenience of its patrons.

It was taken over by West Coast Cinemas in the late-1940’s and re-named Empire Super Cinema. In the early-1960’s it was taken over by L. Segelman of Leeds and re-named Plaza Cinema.

Star Cinemas of Leeds the took over the Plaza Cinema in the late-1960’s and it was converted into a triple screen cinema in 1973. Now with seating capacities for 463 in Studio 1, 162 in Studio 2 and 210 in Studio 3, it re-opened as Studios 1, 2, 3. In 1984 Studios 1 & 2 were converted into a bingo club. Studio 3 continued on films but eventually closed around 1988.
