Lake Theatre

The Lake Theatre was part of the post war movie theatre expansion in suburban Knoxville. Opened on January 19, 1948, it was one of only two indoor theatres in South Knoxville with the other being the Horne Theatre. Unfortunately this 400 seat theatre didn’t last long closing on June 13, 1950, possibly because of the adjacent railroad tracks. It became a church.

Opening ad is in the photo section. The theatre opened on 1-19-48 and closed 6-13-50. The theatre was leased to Bible Baptist Church which eventually bought the theatre.
