Located in Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex. The Bijou Cinema opened (at what was originally 53 Station Road) on 30th July 1910. It was designed by Bexhill architect J.B. Wall for C.S. James who was the owner of the adjacent Castle Hotel. The Bijou Cinema was closed in August 1914, but re-opened 19th April 1915 under new owners, who operated it as a concert party live showe venue for the summer season. It was taken over by another operator and re-opened as the New Palace Theatre on 26th December 1915. In 1917 it was re-named St. Georges Cinema, again under new ownership. It became the first cinema in Bexhill to show ‘talkies’ when “Broadway Melody of 1929” was screened in September 1929. Around 1936 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system and the cinema was redecorated, re-opening as the Carlton Cinema on 6th April 1936.

During World War II it was taken over by the Marks Circuit Cinemas of Manchester. In 1949 under new owners it was renamed Savoy Cinema. It was closed in October 1954. The building stood unused until December 1993 when it was demolished.
