This 1942 trade article shows a modernized entrance to Shea’s Orpheum Theatre, which apparently doesn’t have a listing at Cinema Treasures: boxofficemagazine

Great news. The McKees Rocks borough council has approved to submit an grant application to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development for $500,000 towards the restoration of the Roxian Theater.

There is good news. The Emerald Room, formerly, the Roxian, has been purchased by a developer, who is planning on reopening the venue, as the Roxian, in early 2008.

The Roxian will be restored to its full glory and be available as an auditorium to host live concerts, performances, and community events in an intimate setting.

This is great news.

I got this picture of the Emerald Room/Roxian today. I don’t think it looks much like a theater.

This theater while in operation was known as the Roxian. It has served in recent times until last year as a concert venue and banquet hall. It is now closed, but hopefully the community will be able to purchase it and turn it into a community theater. Currently the building across the street is being converted into a community cultural center.
