Located in the Ordsall area of Salford. The Palace Cinema was opened in 1929 adjacent to the Palace Theatre (formerly the Regent Theatre which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Palace Theatre was showing films in 1929, and it was operated by the H.D. Moorhouse Circuit, as was the Palace Cinema.

The Palace Cinema was equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system and the first ‘talkie’ to be screened here was “Nothing but the Truth” on 20th September 1929. In July 1941 the Palace cinema was destroyed by a fire.

The adjoining Palace Theatre was not affected and carried on as a cinema until 4th January 1952, when it too was destroyed by a fire.
