Located on Highway 81, the King Drive-In was opened in 1949 and was operated by G.J. Ebeler. By 1955 it was operated by F.W. Zimmerman. It had closed by 1960 when it was converted into a go-kart track. It had been demolished by 1973.

Found it. The drive-in was located at what is now 1506 S Interstate 35. It appears to have been demolished some time before 1973. Today, a housing edition sits on the property with no trace of the drive-in left.

Sounds like the King was long gone by this note in the May 9, 1960 issue of Boxoffice: “Dan McCarthy gave a glowing account to B&H Mfrs. Associates on the trampoline and Go-Kary center he has opened on the former King Drive-In Theatre site at San Marcos. He has called the center Bounceville.”
