Lyric Theatre

Located on the southwest corner of Symmons Street and Victoria Street. The Lyric Theatre was opened on 3rd April 1905. The Lyric Theatre was severely damaged by fire on 1st April 1937, and closed. The Lyric Theatre reopened on 6th July 1937 with “Girl in a Million”. The Lyric Theatre closed in December 1939 after the Mayfair Theatre opened in 4th August 1939. The building is still there used as shops(one of the shops is a furniture shop).

The building has just had a facelift ,back to original “glory” outside that is ……unsure of internal upgrade at moment..

Classified by the National Trust on 4/5/1981. State Heritage register 0374, 23/5/1997. National Estate register 18/9/2014.

The building is now a barber shop(Sweeney Todd Barber’s Shop), a co-working shop(Maker + Co Collective) and a gift shop(The Green Depot). The front of the overhead verandah now has writen on it 73-77 Victoria Street, Lyric Theatre(fmr) Bunbury.
