In Ayr, on the west coast of Scotland, the town’s first purpose-built cinema, the Picture Palace, opened in 1911.
The cinema closed in 1925, and was converted into a ballroom. Later, it went over to bingo, then retail use.
At some stage there was a bad fire, and now only the frontage remains.
