Smyrna Opera House c1907

Built in 1907, the obituary for the venue’s former pianist, Margaret Reese, confirms that silent movies were shown here in the 1920’s. The Smyrna Opera House, which also functioned as a Town Hall, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The building still stands but does not appear to be in use either as a town hall or a performance venue. Newspaper articles indicate it was still functioning as an “opera house” (though it appears to be primarily have been used for meetings) as late as 1941.
