The World’s Record had increased to 97 weeks by the time that “The Big Parade” finally closed at the Astor in mid-September. During the reserved-seat engagement, nearly 1,800,000 tickets were sold, for a box office take of about $2,000,000. The Astor’s next attraction was another MGM roadshow, Ernst Lubitsch’s “The Student Prince of Heidelberg,” with Ramon Novarro and Norma Shearer.
