Astoria Lichtspiele

Located in the Pieschen district, across the River Elbe to the north of the city centre. The building was constructed in 1857 and used as the Bremen Dance Hall upstairs on the first floor. In 1928 it was converted by architect Georg Weber into the Cine City Bremen. In 1930 it was renamed Astoria Lichtspiele.

From 1966 it was showing Soviet films from the DDR. It closed as a cinema in 1970.

From 1978 it became a rehearsal space for stage plays, which continued until 1993. In 1996 it became a dance studio, for the teaching of Latin dancing. Since 2009 it has been occupied by a Chinese restaurant.
