Located in the centre of Windsor, Berkshire. The Windsor and District Roller Skating Rink opened on 26th March 1910. It was converted into the Empire Electric Kinema which opened on 1st May 1911 and was operated by Harold Pilgrim. It had 600 seats and the proscenium was 22ft wide. In 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system and it was re-named Empire Cinema. The seating capacity was also increased to 850 (possibly with the addition of a balcony?)

Independently operated throughout its life, the Empire Cinema was closed on 25th May 1957 with Dirk Bogarde in “Doctor at Large”. The building had been purchased by the Post Office and they demolished it to build a new Post Office building.
