Located in Buer, near Gelsenkirchen in the North Rhine region west Germany. The Schauburg Filmpalast was opened in 1929 as a single screen cinema with 1,400 seats. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels. The walls of the auditorium are floor to ceiling polished wood panelled. There is also wood panelling in the foyer areas. It was equipped with a Welte 3Manual/16Ranks organ.
In recent years it has been triplexed, with the original Schauburg auditorium now seating 700 in the former orchestra area, retaining its original proscenium and decorative details. The other two screens are named Lux which seats 255 and Studio which has 99 seats. All screens have 35mm & 16mm projectors and 4K digital projectors.
