Paramount Cinema - Main Street Mordialloc, Victoria Australia - Re-build approx 1930

The Paramount Theatre 536 Main Street, Mordialloc was opened in 1923. It was then re-built in approx 1930 to accommodate and celebrate the advent of talking pictures. Another re-build in 1938 and the theatre was re-named “The Regent”, by then the operator was Fowler & Carr Theatres Property Ltd. – Note: From 1936, it was the custom to switch the program between “The New Mentone Theatre” and “The Mordialloc Theatre”. The Regent theatre survived until 1964, however has since been demolished and a retail outlet built on the site – Photo courtesy of Pauline Dixon – Contributed by Greg Lynch –
