The Twin Open Air Drive-In Theatre opened on June 11, 1948 with “Silver River”. Located about four miles to the south of Midway Airport in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn. The two screens were called simply “The North Screen” and “The South Screen”.
In April of 1954, the theatre converted to CinemaScope and each car had two speakers to provide stereo sound for “The Robe” and “The Command”. The land values on Cicero continued to rise and the drive-in succumbed to a strip shopping center that still stands in the 21st Century.
