The drive-in was still intact and appeared open in 1968. But but 1981 the screen was gone and buildings were present on the back of the lot.

By 1991, the projection booth/concession stand was gone and replaced by the Four Seasons Village Apartments.

That 1954 note may have been a season opener.

Boxoffice, Nov. 18, 1950: “LARNED, KAS. - The Larned Drive-In, which opened last June, has closed for the winter.”

I Think The Reason Why It Said “Kansas Newest Theaters” On The Blog Is Because Maybe The State Theatre Nearby Installed CinemaScope At The Time, But I Don’t Know.

For The Tip Of My Tongue, I Immediately Only Found A Single Article That, The Larned Drive-In Opened On May 21st, 1954. But Unfortunately I Cannot Find A Single Grand Opening Attraction, Timing Or Anything Else Including Movie Lineups. All I Can Find Is This Blog That Reads “Kansas’s Finest (And) Newest Theaters” Featuring The State (Which Opened In April 1949) And The Larned Drive-In.

A more accurate address (at least for Google) is 202 W 17th St Larned, KS.

You can still see the faint outline of the drive-in to the north and east of the Four Seasons Village Apartments which sits in the middle of where the drive-in once stood. http://tinyurl.com/j8jwmbc
