Now a Gulf gas station.

This was the northernmost drive-in in the United States. It was opened by 1984 and played adult only films in French.

Note: I gave 2 addresses -the gas station has a Canada address and a United States address- as the entrance and exit roads were in Canada at 1199 De La Frontiere, St-Eleuthere, Quebec, BUT the drive-in itself including the field, box office, screen and concession stand were in the US.

Also there are only 4 people in this village during the summer. There are no permanent residents. The other side of the street from this location has permanent residents in their town.

The Gulf Station sits only on a small part of the drive-in, you can still clearly see the outline, ramps, and foundation to the projection booth and concession stand. http://tinyurl.com/z2j4xpn

This place is similar to a public library in Vermont(the entrance is in Canada), seen on an episode of “How the states got their shapes. I forget the name of the town on the Vermont/Canada border.

davidcoppock- The town in Vermont which you mention is Derby Line VT. It straddles the border with Quebec, on the north side of which is Stanstead. But it looks like one town from overhead. The public library is in an old 1904 building which also contains a small theater, the Haskell Opera House. Supposedly, the stage is on the north side of the border while the auditorium is on the south side.

The building is called Haskell Free Library and Opera House(it has it’s own page on Wikipedia). The canada side of the building is in the town of Rock Island.

Is it the only drive-in theatre(or picture theatre) in the World, to be in two different countries at the same time?
