This theatre initially opened (about 1910) without a name, but went on to have numerous names throughout its life, among them Taylor & Wilkie Theatre (later in 1910), Webster Playgraph Theatre (1913), Regent Theatre (1917) which closed in 1922 and the building became the Alameda Free Library until 1936.

It reopened as the Times Theatre (1942), and Bell Theatre (1958) before closing barely three months after taking on the Bell name.

It was torn down in 1962.

A letter from Robert Lippert to the trade journal Motion Picture Herald that was published in the magazine’s issue of September 12, 1942, said that he had opened the Times Theatre in Alameda the previous week. The letter itself wasn’t dated, but assuming a few days for delivery and a few more days for it to be published, this house must have re-opened as the Times in late August or very early September, 1942.
