The Roma Theater opened in 1911 by William Kessell, and could seat 300. The theater was still operating by 1917. The Roma Theater was located near the intersection of S. Halsted Street and W. Taylor Street, historically the heart of the Little Italy neighborhood. Today, the site of the theater is part of the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago, originally built in the 1960’s, wiping away a large portion of the old Little Italy.
