Savoy Cinema

Located in Drogheda, County Louth. The Boyne Cinema was opened by Joe M. Stanley, a newspaper proprietor, on 27th January 1919 with Fred O'Donovan in “Rafferty’s Rise”. Around 1930 it was equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system.

It was renamed the Savoy Cinema in 1954, following a change in ownership to J. McGrane and T. Boylan and closed in February 1960.

Opened 27 January 1919 with ‘Rafferty’s Rise’. Raided by police on 16 April 1919 who seized a copy of the Sinn Fein Review.
