After 25 weeks as a roadshow at the nearby Warners' Theatre, “The Jazz Singer” moved to the Roxy for continuous performances at lower prices. Coinciding with Jewish holy days, the Roxy’s stage show opened with the “Kol Nidre” pageant that later became an annual fixture at RCMH.
The booking was limited to two weeks only. Variety reported that no boxoffice records were broken, but that the Roxy grossed an “outstanding” $117,000 in the first week, and dropped only slightly to $109,500 in the second.
