In the final phase of its renovations for the introduction of CinemaScope, the Roxy dropped stage shows and switched to “double features,” though that expression was never used in advertising or publicity. “Mr. Scoutmaster,” the Roxy’s last feature to be supported by an ice revue, was held-over and placed in support of “Vicki,” which was described as a “Pre-Release Preview.” This was the last program at the Roxy prior to the CinemaScope premiere of “The Robe.” Stage shows did not return to the Roxy until the Christmas season of 1955.

“Vicki” was a remake of “I Wake Up Screaming,” which had played at the Roxy with a stage show in 1941. Betty Grable and Carole Landis played the sisters in the original.
