Martin Theatre

The Martin Theatre opened on Friday June 3, 1966 with Sean Connery in “Thunderball”. It was located at 215 Loring Street (later 1211 Loring Street) next to the Cullman Shopping Center. The theatre featured Heywood Wakefield chairs, a Vista Vue screen, and tangerine and gold decorations.

The Martin Theatre closed from December 9, 1974 through December 20, 1974 for remodeling and twinning. It reopened on Friday December 20, 1974, as a twin. The Martin Theatre closed in the early part of 1987.

The movie shown on opening day (June 3, 1966) was “Thunderball” starring Sean Connery.
