The Lyric theatre, after a complete remodeling opened, January 21, 1937, in the old Joyo building, which had moved across the street in January 1936 to replace the first Lyric. Film Daily Year Book 1937 lists the New Lyric with 425 seats but by 1938 it was closed and not listed in the Lincoln Nebraska State Journal.

According to the Journal, in 1909 there was an Elite No. 1 theatre at this location (then1329 O Street), which was a companion to the Elite No. 2 across the street at 1330 O Street (now 6128 Havelock). The Elite No. 2 had opened on August 26, 1907, as the first Joyo Theatre and was mentioned in the Journal.

Ron Pierce: I see that 1329 O Street is in ‘Downton’, Lincoln with Zip Code 68508. This Joyo Theatre is in the Havelock district to the northeast of Lincoln. In the Film Daily Yearbooks 1920’s and 1930’s, Havelock is listed as a seperate town.
