Jefferson Theatre

Plans for the construction of a movie theatre at 3307 ½ S. Main Street were announced in 1910. The Jefferson Theatre was listed at 3309 S. Main Street in the 1911 city directory. No theatre was listed on this block in 1912, but the Jefferson Theatre reappeared in the 1913 directory.

Both years, 3309 S. Main is also the address of many individuals, so the Jefferson Theatre must have been a storefront theatre on the ground floor of a residential hotel or apartment house.

A three-story brick apartment building is on the site today, using the address 3307 S. Main Street. The former storefronts have all been closed up and tiled over, leaving only three barred doors. The County Assessor’s office says the building was erected in 1908.
