Opened as a single-screen house by Kerasotes Theatres on April 4, 1975, the Times Square Cinema was Mount Vernon’s first Shopping center theater. Though later converted to four screens, the house was closed in 1987, not long after the downtown Mount Vernon Granada Theatre and Stadium Theatre, also operated by Kerasotes, had both been twinned. The mall space the theaters had occupied was converted to retail use.
