Flamingo Drive-In

The Flamingo Drive-In Theatre was Del Rio’s second drive-in theatre and would be bought out by the Val Verde Circuit which had opened the Ceniza Drive-In. The Flamingo Drive-In would open as an English language theatre in 1951 and converted to Spanish language on weekdays in the early-1960’s. In its final year in 1971, the Flamingo Drive-In was full-time Spanish language movies.

In 1972, the Cinema Plaza indoor structure was built on the site of the Flamingo Drive-In to be operated as an indoor/outdoor operation. However, the theatre did not operate as a twin operation and was demolished in 1977.
