Located on the corner of Mayfield Grove and Kirkwhite Street, in The Meadows district to the south of the city centre. The Grove Cinema opened Saturday 16th July 1938 with Paul Robson in “Jericho” & William Gargan in “Reported Missing”. It was built for the S. Graham Circuit, Props., The Grove Cinema (Nottingham) Ltd., 24, Corridor Chambers, Market Place, Leicester. Seating was provided for 630, with 480 in the stalls and 150 in the circle. The proscenium was 20ft wide and it was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. Closed Saturday 8th December 1962 with Herbert Lom in “Phantom of the Opera” & Peter Cushing in “Captain Clegg”.
Demolished in the 1970’s along with the entire neighbourhood. It was located approximately where 67 Manifold Gardens is now [Nottingham NG2 2HU 52.943117, -1.148163]
