The Bijou Theatre launched August 11, 1911 with the film, “The Great Auto Races at Indianapolis”. When the theatre closed briefly to equip for sound, it was remodeled and relaunched as the Ritz Theatre August 19, 1929.

Under Fox ownership, the theatre was again remodeled and became the Midway Theatre in 1942. On November 12, 1952 and under Marcus Theatre operation, the theatre became the new State Theatre relaunching with the film, “Ivanhoe”. The theatre appears to have stopped showing films in 1957 and was then used for live events. It was later demolished.
