The Mavety Theatre originally opened in 1919, in the old substation (powerhouse) for the Toronto Suburban Railway. The Mavety Theatre also had removable seats for use as a dance hall.

By 1943 it had become the West End Theatre and closed in 1961. Since demolished a building containing Toronto Family Church now stands on the site.

The West Toronto Junction Historical Society provided this information.
