Located in the city centre. The Cine Avenida was opened on 3rd October 1942 with “El Embrujo de un Vals”(We Were Dancing starring Norma Shearer) plus a star studded vaudeville show on its stage. Designed by architect Gustavo Mirabal in an Art Deco style, with elements of Mexican Colonial style. Seating was provided for 1,643 in the orchestra and 1,312 in the balcony. The Cine Avenida was considered on of the best cinemas in the city.

It was closed in December 1996 and was abandoned. The vacant building was still standing in 2002. Later demolished, the Plaza Concordia shopping centre was built on the site.
