Riverside Drive-In

The Riverside Outdoor Theatre was launched April 20, 1950 by Joe D. Blinka. He sold the theatre in 1952 to M.M. Mitchell and it became the Riverside Drive-In Theatre. Blinka would move on to Schulenburg to establish the Midway Drive-In. The Riverside Drive-In was damaged by a tornado on April 26, 1957 but continued operations.

The ozoner closed on October 10, 1958 after showing Bob Hope in “Paris Holiday”. The theatre’s materials were offered at a salvage sale the following day.

After talking to some local people in town, the old concession building stood until the mid 2000’s when it was torn down. The foundation is still visible behind the funeral home.
