S&M Theatres Circuit and Menomonie Amusement Company built the Menomonie Outdoor Theatre near Wakanda Park in North Menomonie near Route 12. It was S&M’s fifth drive-in. By the time the theatre launched on July 17, 1953, Marcus Theatres Circuit was the operator. The first film was Rory Calhoun in “Powder River”. The outdoor theatre went out of business on September 8, 1985 with a double feature of “Fright Night” and “Lifeforce”.
The city bought the property and demolished it for other uses.
