The Opera House & Auditorium was opened as a live theatre on April 16, 1917. It soon began to screen silent movies and presented vaudeville. It was renamed Twilight Theatre in March 1923 after undergoing renovations. At one time it boasted one of the largest screens in Kansas. It was closed in 1989.

In the early-2000’s there were plans to raise money to restore and reopen the Twilight Theatre, but on May 4, 2007 the unused building was badly damaged by a tornado which practically damaged the whole town.

A new Twilight Theatre was built at a different location at the corner of S. Main Street and Florida Avenue. It opened on April 24, 2015 and has its own page on Cinema Treasures.
