Star Vu Drive-In

This sounds like a fun story of a drive-in owned by women back when that didn’t happen much. The June 24, 1950 issue of BoxOffice reported, “PANORA, IOWA – The new Star-Vu Drive-In held its grand opening here last week. Weather conditions delayed the opening several weeks. Owners are Dorothy Kean and Mrs. Margaret Gibson”.

The 1952-56 editions of the Theatre Catalog listed the Star Vu Drive-In, capacity 200, owner Dorothy Kean, Little Th.

The Star Vu Drive-In debuted in the 1951 edition of the Film Daily Year Book and stayed on that list through at least 1964.

The Motion Picture Almanacs listed it as the Star-Vue Drive-In from 1951 through 1976, then as the Starvu Drive-In from 1977 to 1979, its final appearance. A 1995 aerial showed it was long gone by then.

Nothing remains of the Star Vu; houses occupy the site today.

A few more details emerged a month later in the July 22, 1950 issue of BoxOffice:
