Carroll Drive-In

This was the first of two Carroll Drive-In’s located in the town of Carroll, IA. (the second was on US-30 east of town and opened in 1953 and has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

The Carroll Drive-In located north of town on US-71 was opened on September 9, 1948 with Joanne Dru in “Abie’s Irish Rose”. It was operated by Ted Keogh & Cecil Crouse. In February 1949 it was purchased by Pioneer Theatres. They closed the Carroll Drive-In in September of 1952 due to them building the ‘new’ Carroll Drive-In on US-30.

The first Carroll Drive-In was later demolished.
