A June 16, 2019 article in the Preeceville Progress about a nearby drive-in revival provided most of the details about the original Preeceville Drive-In Theatre, which ran from 1956 to 1986 and was owned and operated by Frank and Nick Dubelt.

“I can remember my dad picking out the spot located just north of Preeceville,” said Aggie Dubelt. “Literally, it was just a pile of sand but they did some landscaping with the specific thought of a drive-in theatre”. The last movie shown was Gene Hackman in “Hoosiers”.

Based on its surrounding landscaping, the site of the Preeceville District Skating Arena is a likely candidate for the drive-in’s location.

The 1966 Motion Picture Almanac listed the Preeceville with a capacity of 200 cars.
