Cine Gioiello

Opened as the Cinema Iris prior to 1940. By April 1989 it had been re-named Cine Gioiello. This was a small and well-liked cinema that has shuttered. It is now used for conventions.

I saw Marcello Mastroianni and Massimo Troisi in the film “Splendor” by Ettore Scola here in April 1989.

I saw Mastroianni in “Stanno tutti bene” (Everybody’s Fine), by Giuseppe Tornatore, in this cinema in December 1990.

As the Cinema Iris on May 18, 1940 the program was “La grande luce” (Montevergine) with Amedeo Nazzari and “Lo vedi come sei?” with Macario. This is from a listing in “Il Messaggero” for that day.
