Mermac Theater

The Washington House Hotel was built in 1864 in Italianate style. In 1913, the hotel was remodeled, changed name to Mermac Hotel and a theater was added on the 1st floor, the Mermac Theater with 350 seats. The theater itself was modernized in 1938 and 200 more seats added to it. It was still open in 1952, but had closed by 1955. The building still stands housing now the Washington House Pub.
