Downtown Brownsboro, Texas, had two movie theatre in its history. The 250-seat Palace Theatre launched early in 1926 and closed during the Depression. In August of 1937, the Rex Theatre opened. The theatre was gutted by a major fire on August 6, 1954 and closed. It was rebuilt and relaunched in 1955 only to suffer an even more major fire on December 7, 1956. That fire permanently closed the theatre and led to the building’s demolition.
