The Pawnee Theatre launched August 7, 1926 with William Boyd in “The Volga Boatman” and Joe Cobb in the Hal Roach short comedy “Ask Grandma". The venue was placed in an existing, converted 1886-built retail building by operator P.F. Luchsinger. The $7,000 Cremona Orchestra Organ played by Art Rayfield wowed patrons.

The Pawnee Thetare converted to sound but closed in June of 1933 during the Depression. It relaunched in very limited, sporadic operation until closing in 1937. It sat vacant until the building owner sold off the seats and the business was converted to the Brazeal Furniture store in 1946. The building was still in use into the 21st Century.
