The Omnimax Theater is described as a five-story, 80-foot-diameter dome with the latest IMAX laser technology and a NanoSeam screen by Spitz with no visible seams, containing more than 400 panels.

The Omnimax Theater reopened November 29, 2019, after closing July 29 for a $3.5 million renovation, which reduced seating from 315 to 270. Located in the St. Louis Science Center, It has been serving St. Louis since originally opening November 2, 1991.

The reopening IMAX films included Disney’s “Frozen 2", “Great Bear Rainforest", and “Volcanoes: The Fires of Creation", with “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” scheduled for December 2019.

Remiger Design of St. Louis was in charge of the project.
