The Strand Theatre was opened on August 26, 1918 with 600-seats. It played vaudeville & photo-plays. On March 20, 1931 it re-opened as the Criterion Theatre with Milton Sills in “Man Trouble”. It was listed with 750-seats. Briefly renamed Capitol Theatre, it was renamed State Theatre around 1937 after the State Theatre on N. Tyron Street closed. The State Theatre was still open in 1952, but had closed by 1955.
