The New Theatre launched in a 19th Century downtown building on November 7, 1921. The theatre became known as Shriner’s New Theatre before being equipped for sound and changing names to Shriner’s Theatre and then the Shriner Theatre. The theatre received a major refresh including air conditioning in 1947 under the name of the Taneytown Theatre. It appears to have gone out of business in the 1950’s.
