Built as the Temperence Hall in 1873 and converted to a cinema as early as 1911 (in its early days it functioned as a music hall with films as part of the entertainment), the Plaza Cinema has undergone a restoration and upgrading under the able control of Northern Morris Cinemas.
Still operating as a single screen cinema the luxury pullman seating is split between stalls and circle and now has 320 seats, down from 630 when the spacing was less comfortable.
It is the sole survivor of four cinemas that once existed in the town.
