Max Connett and Fred McLendon of the Palace Theatre built a new drive-in just west of the city in 1950 to operate with their downtown theatre in Forest, the Palace Theatre. Otis “Dud” Hunter managed both theatres.

The Ritz Drive-In launched for the 1951 season. That same year Connett-McLendon Enterprises Circuit would build the new Town Theatre in 1951. The Ritz Drive-In opened seasonally from 1951 to 1957. The Town Theatre and Palace Theatre operated together until the Palace Theatre closed in 1958. The Ritz Drive-In was reopened one last time in 1964. It was later demolished.
