The Forest Theatre was built in the 1910’s likely as the Palace Theatre and becoming the Dixie Theatre in 1920. The downtown Burleson theatre converted to sound and got its streamlined look by new operators Mrs. J. Clarence Brown in 1945.

But Brown and her husband closed the theatre in August of 1948, put the entire theatre on a flatbed truck and moved it 14 miles away to Forest Hill, Texas. Give C.A. Snow of Weatherford credit for the move by truck and the State Highway Patrol for accompanying it on its odd journey.

The renamed Forest Theatre launched in Forest Hill in October of 1948. The Forest Theatre was re-seated prior to its relaunch. The Browns drew up plans for a new theatre in Burleson that they may not have ever built.
